The Social Science Club in our college is an academic platform that encourages students to explore society, culture, history, and civic life in a meaningful way.It aims to develop social awareness and a deeper understanding of contemporary social issues among students. The club promotes critical thinking and encourages students to examine social situations from different perspectives.It helps future teachers develop a sense of responsibility and commitment towards society.The club organizes various activities such as debates, seminars, quizzes, exhibitions, and awareness programmes.These activities provide students with opportunities to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life social situations.The club promotes democratic values, national integration, equality, and social responsibility.It also provides opportunities for students to develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.Through its programmes, the club encourages students to actively engage with important social and civic issues.
Overall, the Social Science Club plays an important role in shaping socially aware, responsible, and informed future teachers.

              Objectives

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE - MOMENT TO RISE YOUR VOICE

The Social Science Club organized a programme in connection with the International Day of Peace on 22 September 2026 at 2:30 PM at the TIM Campus. The programme was conducted under the theme “Moments to Raise Your Voice”, highlighting the importance of peace, harmony, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the significance of peace and the responsibility of individuals in building a peaceful society. It encouraged participants to raise their voices against violence, discrimination, injustice, and conflict while promoting empathy, mutual respect, and understanding.The programme provided an opportunity for students to reflect on the importance of peace at personal, social, and global levels. It also emphasized the role of future teachers in fostering values of peace, unity, tolerance, and harmony among learners. The active participation of the students made the programme meaningful and informative.The programme concluded with a renewed commitment among the participants to promote peace, unity, respect, and harmony in society.

DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATION

The Department of Social Science organized a special programme to observe International Democracy Day on September 15, 2026, at the Seminar Hall. Centered around Abraham Lincoln's timeless definition of democracy—"of the people, by the people, for the people"—the event aimed to highlight the fundamental principles of democratic values, civic responsibility, and active citizen participation. The venue was thoughtfully decorated with thematic posters and slogans emphasizing unity, human rights, and the collective strength of the people.The session opened with an introductory address that set a reflective tone for the day, emphasizing the role of youth in sustaining a fair and inclusive society. Throughout the event, students and faculty members engaged in meaningful discussions and presentations that focused on the evolution of democratic systems and the importance of safeguarding fundamental rights. Student speakers actively participated by sharing creative perspectives on how educators can foster democratic ethics, critical thinking, and social justice among future generations. The interactive nature of the gathering encouraged attendees to voice their opinions on contemporary social issues, making the session both informative and empowering. The event concluded with a collective pledge to uphold democratic ideals, followed by a formal vote of thanks expressed to everyone who contributed to making the programme a success. Overall, the observance left a lasting impression on the audience, reminding all participants of their vital role as conscious and responsible citizens

ECHOES - REMEMBERING HIROSHIMA DAY

On August 6, 2026, the Department of Social Science organized a solemn and reflective Hiroshima Day observance titled "Echoes," centered on the theme "Remembering Hiroshima Day: A Call for Peace and Reflection." The programme aimed to honor the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing while fostering a deep commitment to global peace and non-violence among participants. The event commenced with an insightful Round Table Talk, where students and faculty engaged in a meaningful discussion on the historical consequences of war, anti-war movements, and the critical need for harmony in today's geopolitical climate. This was followed by an interactive Quiz Competition that challenged participants' understanding of World War II history, nuclear disarmament efforts, and international peace treaties. Adding a creative and symbolic touch to the day, attendees participated in a Sadako Crane Making session, where they folded origami paper cranes inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki as a collective gesture of hope, healing, and global unity. The overall programme created a deeply engaging atmosphere, successfully reminding everyone present of their responsibility to promote peace and humanity in the world.
